Job Title Executive Director
Salary Range $47,476 – $55,000
Reports to Board of Directors, Citrus County Harvest

Founded in 1999, the mission of Citrus County Harvest is to inform, serve and facilitate the feeding of those in need through an ever present volunteer network. Most well-known for the Blessings program, in 2009, this weekend meal program served one school in Citrus County. It has now grown to 25 schools and serves approximately 1600 school children each Friday.  Two additional programs include Harvest (food recovery) and Feed the Kids (summer feeding). The Executive Director position was developed to further grow, sustain and maintain the program. Our cash revenues are $450,000 to $600,000. All revenues come from corporate and individual donations, as well as grants. The Executive Director is expected to maintain donor relations while growing the list of donors. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Citrus County Blessings’ volunteers, program, expansion, and the execution of its mission. Initially the Executive Director will develop deep knowledge of population served, core program operations, and strategic/ business plans.

Minimum qualifications include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Excellence in organization management with the ability to manage staff, as well as managing and developing teams, set strategic objectives and manage a budget.
  3. Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising skills with the ability to engage in a wide range of stakeholders and cultures. Interpersonal communication skills, including consensus building, calm demeanor and highly developed organization skills.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated Microsoft Office and computer skills. Knowledge of social media.
  5. Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed.
  6. Four to five years work experience with non-profits or marketing, fundraising or education preferred.
  7. Compassion for at-risk children and youth.


Leadership & Management 

  • Ensure program excellence, rigorous evaluation, a consistent quality of finance, fundraising and communications. Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve program strategic goals.
  • Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, committees/ad hoc committees, foster partnerships, and develop relationships with donors.
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong board of directors, serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for sustaining and expanding the program.
  • Oversee and manage all staff.

Fundraising & Communications

  • Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program and growth.
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communication from web presence to external relations with a goal of creating a strong brand.
  • Manage public relations via social media, website, blog, newspaper and other appropriate venues.
  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.
  • Pursue, write and secure grant opportunities
  • Design, type and distribute the quarterly newsletter.
  • Sign and mail all fundraising communications.


  • Develop and manage organization’s budget via QuickBooks Online to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Deposit funds prepared by designated staff.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, as well as all other accounts held by the organization. Report monthly spending to Board of Directors.
  • Verify expenses and sign checks prepared by designated staff member.
  • Ensure that all cash, checks, bank account, credit/debit card numbers, password and petty cash are locked and secure at all times.
  • Manage assets.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. This job requires weekend and night work.
  2. The Executive Director will have access to all pantries and the community food bank. Must be able to work in dirty, dusty or musty environments.
  3. Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds at one time.
  4. Access to a pick-up truck is helpful.
