Bidding Grateful Farewell to Grace Hengesbach

Citrus County Blessings bids a grateful farewell to Grace Hengesbach as she completes four years as the Executive Director. During her tenure, she has greatly expanded services to now include 1550 children who receive weekend meals through Blessings and over 500 participants who are receiving produce this summer through Feed the Kids.  We are very grateful for her energy, expertise, and tireless efforts to make sure all children in need have food to help them grow and thrive.

Joan Luebbe, Board Chair for the last two years praised her, “Grace’s greatest accomplishment has been expanding our donor base which has allowed us to greatly expand our services. What started in one school in 2009, now covers every school in Citrus County, a charter school and some of the non-public schools. She has organized every small detail of food deliveries, costs, and the everyday details of running a non-profit. While doing this, she also served as president of the Young Professionals group of the Chamber and is an active Rotarian. She spent at least three, and sometimes more, evenings a week talking to groups about Blessings, and did a quarterly newsletter. She also attended almost every event happening in Citrus County, setting up a table and talking about her mission to help children in this county overcome food insecurity. It exhausts me to list what she has done! She has also become what I hope is a lifelong friend, and I am grateful beyond measure that I got to work with her so closely. ”

Connie Storms, the new Executive Director said of her, “Grace is the consummate professional, always organized and with boundless energy and enthusiasm. I am so grateful for the time she has spent to acquaint me with the organization’s administration and most importantly to introduce me to the many donors, supporters, volunteers and community partners.”

Grace plans to remain in Citrus County and stay involved in the community by volunteering with PACE Center for Girls, participating in Crystal River Rotary’s community service efforts,  and serving on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce.
