Feed The Kids : A Summer Feeding Program

The 72% of students participating in the Free/Reduced Lunch program during the academic year often dread the summer months that many children look forward to enjoying. Childhood Hunger doesn’t take the summer off.

Feed the Kids is a program of Harvest that provides food during the summer months to children in need. Operated in six locations county wide the program serves approximately 600 students rain or shine, each week during summer break. The locations are selected mindfully as many enrolled do not have access to transportation. These students receive non-perishable groceries and fresh produce one day a week during the eleven weeks of summer break.

Feed the Kids is operated in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Citrus County, Citrus County Library System, Citrus County Parks and Rec and the City of Inverness. It is funded in part by the United Way of Citrus County.
