Proceeds benefit Blessings!

Each year our county has the pleasure of hosting multiple festivals. These events offer a theme, good times and a boost to our local economy. Fortunate for non-profits, they often also bring charitable donations in exchange for volunteer work.

A first time event the 2018 Scallop Festival, did all of those things. Hosted by Best Florida Fest the festival drew thousands of locals and out of town-ers to Kings Bay Park in Crystal River the weekend of July 28-29.  Owners of Best Florida Fest, Lisa & Mike Yeater, asked if Blessings would be interested in working the beverage truck throughout the course of the festival in exchange for the net profit of the weekend’s sales plus tips. Of course, we said yes.

A total of 36 volunteers signed up to help serve drinks in an effort to raise funds to feed children in the Blessings program. The truck was next to the band stand and a great time was had by all. At the conclusion of the festival, volunteers earned $475 in tips and an additional $3,700.90 in proceeds!

The total of $4,175.90 will feed 23 students each weekend of the academic year in addition to providing meals during holiday breaks!
