About Us

Citrus County Harvest

We are “Citrus County Harvest,” but you probably know us by one of the names of our three food security programs:

Silencing Weekend Hunger, the Blessings Program

Our “Blessings” program is dedicated to silencing the weekend hunger of local children in need. Each week during the school year participants in the program receive a bag of food to take home for the weekend. Students enrolled in the federally funded free or reduced breakfast and lunch program are eligible to participate in the Blessings program. Learn about the Blessings Program, Silencing Weekend Hunger.

Feed the Kids, the Blessings Summer Feeding Program

Working in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Citrus County we created “Feed the Kids,” a program providing food throughout the week to children in need during the summer months, when the school lunch programs are closed. Read about our Feed the Kids Summer Feeding Program.

Citrus County Harvest’s Food Recovery Program

When Citrus County Harvest, Inc. was founded in 1999, food recovery was our first mission. Our Food Recovery program known as “Harvest” still operates today. This program does not require any additional funds at this time. Learn more about Harvest, the Food Recovery Program.
